fremdforschung [strangeness research] II

This phenomenological inquiry into public space interprets the alien, the strange (dt. das Fremde) as symbolic component of our environment. “Approaches to the alien” were conducted in the Rhine valley between Bregenz, Fußach and Dornbirn, mapping places of strange connotation to people by asking passengers to name an alien place. Thereby the research followed an unintended route. This path was later put on a wall in the exhibition space and complemented with ‘strange objects’ [dt. Fremdkörper], kinematic pictures and quotes from philosophical literature.

österreich wählt sich an die wand / austria voted itself against a wall

this sunday this vote put politics further right. especially ridiculous was the voting behaviour of young austrians, which voted disporportionally often for populist right wing parties such as FPÖ [branding itself lately as 'the social homeland party' (quite an ugly analogy)] or BZÖ. may they not earn what they have sown!
